GREENWOOD, Ind. - Avram Worldwide LLC has announced the acquisition of truck line Hurricane Express LLC, a specialized flatbed carrier. The truck line will continue to operate as Hurricane Express. This business combination will provide more capital to Hurricane to fuel its continued growth and will provide Avram with a proprietary asset-based solution to diversify its service offerings for its expanding base of clients.

Hurricane Express LLC was formed in 2002 by Peter Norton, who will continue to serve as general manager of Hurricane Express post acquisition. Hurricane has a fleet of more than 30 power units and a mix of standard and specialty flatbed trailers.

"Our growth over the past two years has been enormous, and being able to leverage Avram's access to capital and backhaul opportunities will lead to continued growth and enhanced profitability," Norton said.

"The acquisition of Hurricane Express and recent procurement of warehousing capabilities will enable Avram to position itself not just as a broker but direct provider of logistics services," said David Plew, president of Avram Worldwide. On the addition of Norton and Hurricane Express to Avram’s family of companies, Plew stated, "We feel fortunate to add Peter to our management team and his staff and drivers to our organization. Hurricane Express is a well-run and respected carrier. The growth of Hurricane is vital to the strategic vision of Avram Worldwide."

Earlier this year, Avram Worldwide announced a joint venture with two South African companies to provide integrated logistics services in the Southern African region and other emerging markets.

Scopelitis, Garvin, Light, Hanson & Feary, P.C. provided legal counsel for Avram Worldwide. First Merchants Bank provided financing for the acquisition.
